A Dad looks for a work at home job

Many Dads want to work at home! Watch the video from and the story ABC Good Morning America

Seven-month-old Jacob Johnson is his parents' pride and joy.
Like so many new arrivals, though, his birth has meant huge changes for mom and dad, Erin and Matt.

The biggest change is about to come. After months of talking and going over their budgets, the Johnsons realized they didn't want to put their son in day care or with nannies.

"I feel it's important that a family member be involved in the day-to-day care-taking," Erin said. Matt works as a plumber; Erin has a job as a manager for 3-M, with much better benefits and pay.

"It didn't make much sense for me to quit because basically we couldn't sustain a family on just Matt's income," Erin said.

So while Matt is looking forward to lots of time to bond with his son, he's hoping he can find some part-time work with a flexible schedule to bring in a little extra money as a cushion for the family's tight budget.

Diamonds are a girl's best friend

Diamonds are a girl's best friend. Diamonds are forever they represent love and commitment between two people. Most people have a diamond engagement ring at least and when you think that the idea is to wear it for the rest of your life, careful consideration must be taken to get it exactly right.

This is also true of choosing jewelry for a gift. Consider your friend or relatives lifestyle, tastes in dress and personality. It’s important to find the right piece for the right person. If you approach a jewelry store for something special, they’ll ask questions before showing jewelry, like “ask you what your job is, what your life is like" and try to learn all about you. When you purchase diamond jewelry for yourself or others these are things you should think about before you choose what you like.

Primestyle.com offers the finest selection of Quality Diamonds & Jewelry at Low Prices. Located in the world famous diamond district of Manhattan, we ensure that you will NEVER PAY RETAIL PRICES AGAIN...PERIOD! We have many satisfied customers who have purchased our wide selection of Diamond Jewelry and you can read about some of these customer testimonials on our website

Telecommuting is more acceptable

I think that is fantastic news. As a person who thinks that working at home and telecommuting are the wave of the future, I am glad to see more Human Resource managers are on the same wavelength. According to a recent survey, 81% of hiring managers now have policies that allow employees to work remotely. In addition, 67% of hiring managers believe the number of employees who work remotely will grow by 2008.

"We learned that companies need to build a product that says, 'if you come and work for us, here's what you're going to have: a casual work environment, a flexible schedule' -- whatever that may be," said Jim Lanzalotto, vice president of strategy and marketing at Yoh. "Companies are realizing that in order to attract the best people to come work for their companies, they need to create an environment that's conducive to do that."

Primerica Business or Job?

While you are searching for your perfect work at home job, there maybe some companies that present themselves as jobs when they are actually businesses. I came across Primerica invitiation and it reminded me several years back my husband got a phone call from someone who had his resume and they thought that he would be a good match for this company Primerica, a subsiduary of Citigroup. Well, it wasn't a job interview but not a business opportunity meeting with 10 other people.

A bait and switch? Absolutely. They pitch that you are going to work for a financial service firm. Maybe even telecommute from your home office.

Primerica is the company itself is built in the MLM mold, where sales agents get paid for business they do, but ultimately can get paid more for recruiting people to get into the business. You get promoted by getting more people and meeting goals and such, so agents obviously are motivated to bring people in as well as do business with you.

Do your research!

San Antonians spend more than 45 minutes a day commuting to and from work. The 23.7 minutes each way is very close to the national average. It just seems longer in San Antonio because of obstacle-course road construction and stop-and-go bottlenecks.

But people can do so much more at home these days. They can shop and bank, thanks to the Internet, television and telephones. Some can work just as easily at home.

As communications technologies advance to create better virtual offices, more companies are willing to give telecommuting a chance. It's a slow revolution, however, despite high gasoline prices.

About 25 percent of U.S. workers have jobs they could perform by telecommuting. Only 2 percent do so full time, however. Another 9 percent work away from the office part time — one or two days a week or each month

Telecommuting changing the way we work

Telecommuting’ is changing the way we live and work

New work-life trends are rapidly emerging thanks to technology and the digital revolution.

Given the stresses of today’s ‘commuter reality’ in our larger cities; chronic traffic congestion, the rapidly rising cost of fuel, parking hassles, more of our own precious time wasted just getting to our places of work - is it any wonder more and more people are joining this revolution and choosing to work from home?

Whatever way you look at ‘Telecommuting’, a term reportedly coined by a Los Angeles consultant to describe this new phenomenon, broadband is offering people new choices in the way they live and work, around the world.

For example, new evidence has recently emerged in the UK to suggest more and more people will soon be working away from the office. More than 2.1 million Brits already work from home and around 8 million more spend at least some of their working week in their homes instead of at the office, according to the UK, Office of National Statistics.

Create a telecommuting job appointment setter

Most small business owners are very busy people who don’t have a lot of extra time on their hands. They will happily outsource some of their daily time-consuming tasks to a telecommuter. One of these time consuming tasks is setting appointments. Appointment setting is a perfect occupation for a telecommuter. The employer doesn’t necessarily need a full-time employee to set his appointments, but at the same time needs someone that is available the majority of business hours in case his clients call in, or to make calls at different times of the day.

A telecommuter is the perfect candidate for this position. As a telecommuting appointment setter you can work with your employer’s schedule. If he needs a few calls made in the morning and then wants you to be available for callbacks in the afternoon, you are there to help. Best of all, you are not limited to just one employer or client. You can easily work as an appointment setter for several business owners at the same time. This will allow you to make a fulltime income while allowing each employer to only pay you for a few hours per day or week.

Setting appointments is something you can easily do from home. All you need is a phone and some way to organize yourself. A computer with Microsoft Outlook, or an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of your clients’ schedules would work well. You could even do this with a good paper calendar at first.

You should have good telephone and written skills to work as an appointment setter. Previous experience as an administrative assistant or secretary is not necessary, but is definitely a plus when it comes to the skills you need and when you are approaching prospective employers or clients. You should also be fairly organized to be able to keep up with multiple appointments for multiple clients each day.

As an appointment setter you will be spending a lot of time both on the phone and on email. You will be checking in with your clients (the small business owners) on a daily basis and then spend the rest of your time contacting their clients, setting up and later confirming appointments. Of course you will also keep your own clients or employers informed of any changes or cancellations throughout the day.

If this is something you are interested in doing, here’s how to start. Determine your hourly rate. You should take the going rate for a task like this in an office setting into consideration and then up it from there. Your employer does not have to provide you with an office, a computer, telephone or any other equipment. You are also most likely going to be an independent contractor, which means he does not have to pay for any of your benefits or taxes. You will be responsible for all this, keep that in mind when determining your rate.

Now it’s time to approach small business owners in your area with what you have to offer and start building a client base. Once you have a few happy clients, word of mouth advertising should start to bring you even more business.
