Building inspectors work at home

Sarasota County Government has enacted a pilot plan for building inspectors that will save on fuel and hopefully lead to more time efficiency.

A small number of building inspectors can now begin their days at home rather than reporting to a central office. With the use of laptops, printers and cell phones, inspectors can receive assignments and head straight to the job site, according to a county press release.

Sarasota County government is starting the program on a small scale so they can work out any unforeseen problems but they hope to implement the program so all inspectors can start their workdays at home. The county estimates the program will allow inspectors to complete 100 additional inspections per day.
