Freelance writing

Have you ever wondered if a home business career is for you? Do you hate your nine to five job? Do you dread waking up in the morning? Very few people are lucky enough to work at a job they enjoy, but I’m happy to say that I’m one of them.

Using Your Talents For Your Stay At Home Business

I’ve worked at lots of dead end, gruelling and mind numbing jobs. Now I pull up a comfortable computer chair to my desk, sip on a hot cup of coffee and work from home writing articles like these ones. For me, it’s the best work from home job I could possibly have. Finding a home business career that suits you all depends on what it is you would like to do. For many people writing is something that comes naturally and with this gift you really can work from home.

Everyone can write, but few have the time or the inclination to do so. There are millions of web sites that need content, magazines that need articles, newspapers that want insightful news articles and that’s where I come in. For me this is an easy home business opportunity and probably the best work from home job I could have.

I even write fictional short stories and sell them to online and print magazines. It’s an easy home business opportunity that many people don’t even consider. All you need to do is be able to write, and finding joy doing so is a big plus too. There are hundreds of work from home writing opportunities on the internet and all you will need to do is register with a few freelancing websites and you are ready to start your home business career.

The great thing about my stay at home business is that I can choose to write to supplement my income, or you can go it alone and do it full time. All you have to do is find the work, target an area or become an “expert” in a certain subject...and write! This is probably one of the safest work from home jobs, you write and you get paid. Of course with this home business career it’s not the easy money that most people look for when they look for a work from home job, but if done correctly you really can make the money and create a successful home business career that will last a lifetime.

Sample Telecommuting Proposal Letter

Remember to  Sign up for daily job leads

Here is a sample Telecommuting proposal that you can share with your boss.

TO: Mary Lou, Supervisor

From: Joe Doe

RE: Telecommute Proposal

I am writing to express my desire to perform my job as Medical Transcriptionist in a telecommuting capacity beginning October 15,. I’ve spent hours researching the subject, and I am excited about sharing the information I’ve gathered with you.

What are the benefits of telecommuting?

There are many benefits of telecommuting. Besides increasing productivity, telecommuting:

* Cuts the cost for office space

* Reduces stress and commuting time

* In case of emergencies I can take care of whatever problem arises and then work later on in the day instead of calling sick

* I can still work during harsh weather conditions

* Telecommuting can boost morale and help employees stay on the job.

* Improves the work/life balance

* Increases employment of women

* Increases employment of disabled workers, etc

These are only a few of the benefits that telecommuting can offer this company. Please give me the chance to prove these tremendous benefits to you.

A laptop  printer, FTP, DSL or cable modem is all that I need to perform my job, and these are things that I already possess in my home office, and will use.

Telecommuting programs have been working for companies like Jetblue, Virgin Atlantic, AAA, Cigna, Carnival Cruise Line, etc, and can definitely work for this company.

I would like to telecommute two days a week starting 10/15/  for a period of at least six months. After six months, once this is working out, I would like to telecommute three days a week, with the possibility of doing this full time after another review of my performance.

I do have child care needs that will be met by a part time babysitter.

I know that you’re probably having concerns about off-site performance. If this is a concern for you, I assure you that you can monitor my productivity and performance off- site better than workers on-site. We can connect via skype.

How? Well, let me introduce you to Elance freelances. Elance provides visibility into virtual cubicles of employees and remote workers.

Elance  offers web-based applications that create a complete view of each person, including a web cam to capture and see what they’re working on. So with the click of a mouse you can see work I’ve done in the past, you can verify logs, review work, etc.

After telecommuting for six months, on 04/15  we can sit down in a meeting to review my performance. At that time we can determine whether or not I should continue.

Enclosed please find several articles on telecommuting, names, telephone numbers, etc., of managers and employees that are enjoying the benefits of telecommuting.

I know that I possess the skills and personality necessary to succeed as a telecommuter, and will prove that to you.

I am really looking forward to this and believe with all my heart that this will be a tremendous benefit to the company, and all involved. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely
Mary Smith

Already telecommuting  5 tips if you want to telecommute

How to write a telecommuting proposal

Are you sick and tired of dragging your sick child to daycare because you can't afford to take another day off from work? Maybe you just want to skip the long, stressful commute to work or want to be able to work on your own time around your family's schedule.

Whatever your job situation may be, you’ve probably wished that your job offered flexible work schedules or the option of telecommuting. Well, if you have a 9-5 job that can be converted to a telecommuting job, you can make a case for telecommuting by creating a verbal and written proposal.

Despite the fact that your reason for wanting to telecommute might be personal, never let this be known to your employer. In your written proposal you must focus on the benefits that telecommuting would offer your employer.

Your telecommuting proposal should:

* State what potential advantages telecommuting would have on the company

* State what schedule you would like (i.e., telecommute 1-3 days weekly)

* Describe your alternative work site

* Explain how you would communicate with your supervisor, and co-workers

* Explain how you would be more productive as a telecommuter

* List what equipment you would need from your employer, and what equipment you already own

* Let your employer know how your dependent(s) (if any) need for care would be met

* Address any concerns that your employer might have

* Schedule to meet with your employer after performing your proposed arrangement to review your performance and to discuss whether this telecommuting arrangement is working or not.

Work at home taking calls

Nicole St. Julien-Thomas is hard at work with her full-time job at home.

"I take calls for stranded motorists who are members of AAA," she says.

St. Julien-Thomas found the job through WillowCSN, a company which provides virtual call center services. That means she takes customer calls at her own home using her own phone and computer.

Angie Selden is WillowCSN's CEO.

"The Willow home agent model is a great idea for people who are looking for flexibility and the ability to earn money during the times of the day that fit into their personal schedule," says Selden.

That's because St. Julien-Thomas and other agents work when they want to.

"I think working from home is like a dream job for a lot of people," says St. Julien-Thomas. "It's just perfect. You set your own hours, you're free to come and go."

Michele Mulqueeney works from home, too. She works for the IRS, dealing with tax form requests.

She was hired by a company that specializes in jobs for people with disabilities. Mulqueeney has multiple sclerosis and found it difficult to work outside the home.

"I couldn't drive anymore," she says. "And just getting up, getting showered and dressed, I would be exhausted."

Mulqueeney works part-time, putting in about 28 hours a week. "It really is wonderful, it's relieved me financially," she says.

Applicants are screened and training is provided by the company. All you need is a computer with a broadband connection, a telephone and a friendly voice.

Now keep in mind, benefits are not included in these types of jobs, but the flexibility allows for more freedom, especially if you're juggling work and freedom.

Disabled People can work at home

After Tom Courter suffered a debilitating illness that forced him to change his profession and slow his lifestyle, he's been able to use technology to help him forge a new career.

Courter, who lives south of Midland, spent three weeks in the hospital and underwent months of treatment after flesh-eating bacteria disease created a huge wound that reached from his waistline two-thirds of the way to his knee. Once a sales manager for a company that designs and sells ambulances and rescue vehicles, he no longer can climb ladders and get to the tops of the trucks to show prospective buyers how they're made. So he put his college accounting studies to work, took a self-study course and became Courter Accounting Services.

Need to hire offer telecommuting

WHEN Sting first sang, “If you love somebody, set them free,” he probably wasn’t thinking about deskbound employees. But the theory works for managers as well as the lovelorn, according to Conor Brennan, deputy chief executive of Chambers Ireland.
“If I had to insist people come to Dublin to work for us, I’d lose valuable people,” said Brennan, who introduced teleworking to his office two years ago. Today, three of his 20 staff work from home in Waterford, Ballina and Limerick.
