Call Centers define homeshoring

When they're not on the road for a service call, but they are on the clock, field technicians for Aspect Software pitch in handling customer calls that require technical expertise. They can take calls from their homes or satellite offices. Either way, adding to the pool of agents is no big deal, says Gary Barnett, CTO at Aspect.

Routing calls to employees working from home "is just about as simple as it is to set up agents in a building," Barnett says.

Moms are putting careers aside for family

The phrase "stay-at-home mom" may conjure up a few different images, from June Cleaver in her perfectly ironed smock, serving up freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies, to a "Desperate Housewives"-style woman decked out in her trendy velour sweatsuit, juggling soccer games, piano lessons and tutoring.

In fact, statistics show a 15 percent increase in the number of stay-at-home moms in the past decade, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
