Good Types of Mturk HITs to work



MTurk is a site that is affiliated with Amazon.com.   Here’s how MTurk works: Various businesses submit Human Intelligence Tasks (HITs) to the website, then workers pick and choose the micro-jobs they want to complete and submit for payment.

Many of the tasks don’t require special skills. There are thousands of HITs available to complete at any given moment. But the amount of time required to finish a task varies greatly and so does the pay.

Despite the low pay, people are drawn to MTurk because of its flexibility. Most other remote jobs require a set schedule that may not be convenient for stay-at-home parents, college students, busy retirees and people in between jobs.

MTurk doesn’t place any of those restrictions on its workers — you can accept HITs 10 minutes a week or 10 hours a week.

The money you earn can then be deposited in your bank account or applied to an Amazon gift card if you shop on Amazon.com.  These are some of my favorite Mturk tasks. I have been trying to earn some extra Christmas money.


Mturk Transcription  

Transcription hits  are offered by requesters such as Castingwords and Speechink, and can vary in price from as little as .40 cents for some of the shorter Castingwords hits on up to several dollars for some of the longer Speechink hits – however those hits usually require that you have a higher rating with SpeechInk

Mturk Keyword research


One of that I have been doing a lot of lately while doing my phone jobs is Keyword research from Crowdsource. They are asking you to open up a new browser window and do a search in google to get the most relevant search engine result.  Or you may be looking for a particular website and let them know the ranking.

Mturk Surveys 


I like doing these because they’re easy and can add up quickly. It can be difficult to find legitimate survey hits on Mturk, though there do seem to be more legitimate survey opportunities being posted. In general, if the survey HIT asks for information such as my address and/or phone number, I stay away from it.  Most survey HITS will tell  you how much time you should plan on spending on the survey, so be sure you have that much time to spend on the survey before accepting the HIT.

Short Article writing

There are many requesters  that post HITS asking for articles on different subjects.  The pay for these HITS, as well as the length of the articles, varies from one requester to the next.  Just like with transcription hits, be sure you follow the requester’s instructions about how long the article  needs to be, and if any keywords need to be mentioned a certain number of times.


MTurk probably isn’t going to be a primary source of income for most people, but it still could be a way to earn a few extra bucks during TV commercial breaks, pet sitting or maybe even during your lunch hour.

Just know that there’s a probationary period where you may not qualify for higher-paying HITs — be patient!

How To Work at Home With a Toddler ebook

I starred working at home when my kids were little.  Some day it was tough balancing motherhood and workload!  I wish I had this book when I had toddlers. 

How To Work at Home With a Toddler  is a great book for the mother who is contemplating the idea of starting a home based business and wanting to feel that the children are still going to get the attention they deserve. This is also great for the mom  who is already working at home and needing to get a handle on the situation in dealing with a career while raising children at the same time..  I  love the way that Theresa Lepiane is able to outline a program to bring a sense of calmness through being organized and setting boundaries.

This is what this book is about, to teach these skills in an easy to follow and understand manner. I really appreciate the ways in which she shows how to create a effective work space within the home while maintaining the integrity of the home for the kids .

What makes this book work is its no non-sense approach is it  takes with the  "matter of fact common sense" methods. Her ability to break this down into such simple steps will leave you wondering why you didn't have this book sooner.

A great book that every mom (or dad) working at home can benefit from, even the seasoned veteran could pick up a few pointers in this book. Thank you Theresa Lepiane for the definitive book for working at home with toddlers.

101+ Real Company's That Pay ebook

Get Started and Find Your Work at Home Job Now!    A handy short guide on where and HOW to look for jobs that you can do at home online. An easy to read book that will only take about 30  minutes  or so to get through but in it there are over 100 links to sources of information and direct links to businesses looking for people to work for them on a remote basis. I haven't checked every one of those links but I did recognize some of the names and I know they are legitimate sources of work opportunities. There were also a very large number that I hadn't heard of too.


Some of the jobs will require certain technical skills or knowledge but the vast majority won't require much more skill than being able to use a word processor, use a phone, or being reasonably analytical and organised.

There is a section on how to avoid being scammed and it would be worth buying the book just for that section alone. It's easy to get ripped off and there is some useful advice on how to do your due diligence to avoid becoming another statistic.

The book provides a great source of material to help point you in the right direction when looking for a job and just like applying for any job you are not guaranteed to get it. If there is a criticism of the book then that would be it, it doesn't advise on how to win that job, I guess that would be the topic for a completely different book or an extra few chapters (don't forget my commission Lee of you decide to write that one now I have given you the idea!)

Overall it does what it says, 100+ links and ideas to get you on the road to possibly a whole new career path.
