September 2020 Side Hustlers Income Reports

I love when side hustlers share their income especially when they are getting out of debt!  There is a way to make extra money each month when you are hustling!

Here are Dave Ramsey side hustlers that are working to get out of debt and work on financial peace!  They have shared their journeys in our facebook group!

Amanda T

Side Hustle income for September. Qkids is teaching English online . R+F is my direct sales business. I worked so much at my church that I really didn't have time for extra work on my usual things like Mturk. Mystery shopping places haven't picked up since covid hit, which sucks.

Donna

I'm on top of it this month! When you're doing all the "extra" work, it makes it much easier to get through it when you're writing it down and seeing that it is fruitful!

Marketplace: I REALLY cleared out some closets this past month. Like I say every month, the less you have, the less you have to clean. If you're not using it, get rid of it.

Extra Shifts: This is just working extra shifts at my traditional "9-5".

We are back over $3K in side hustle income!!!!! This has been tough. Andrew was worried about this month. Door Dash has been very slow and many nights were not that great. Tiffany's business continues to grow and generate income. We are continuing on and paying down the larger debts.

Andrew works Doordash  at 25 hours per week. I do four hours on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday nights. Friday and Saturday are 6.5 hour nights.

Make Money Delivering Take Out Food or Groceries

Running errands and making deliveries are great for quick cash outside the home. It's also very flexible work! Do as much as you can when you can.

Most of these companies advertise earnings upwards of $18 hourly, but you may earn less. Those inflated totals fail to factor in gas, car wear and tear, or work availability.

If these side hustles  are of interest, I'd recommend doing more than one to make it worth your while.

Shipt –  Be a shopper for Shipt, delivering groceries on-demand for people who request the service. Shipt claims it's possible to earn $22/hourly, but around $10 is more likely according to reports from many Shipt shoppers. Shipt is owned by Target Stores  . Once hired, you simply download their user friendly app to get started. Payment is once a week via PayPal.

I do Shipt,  I LOVED it and made a great income. You get offered shops via the ap. You accept, or not...your choice. ..t’s a grocery delivery service from Kroger, HEB/central Market, Mayer, Target etc. (but we also deliver anything target sales, Petco, CVS, Sur la Table, party City, Office Max). They pay a small percentage of the total  then you get tips.

Get Paid to Design & Sell T-Shirts

Instacart –   Earn extra money shopping for others As a shopper, you go to the grocery store like normal, except you’re getting paid to shop for others. Work whenever it works for youWith no set hours or days, you can shop as much or as little as you want, anytime you want.

Instacart is looking for new shoppers -great part time side hustle!!    -

Sarah Hlad has been an Instacart shopper since early April, and already she’s earned almost $3,000.“The first week I did it, I paid off my whole credit card,” she told FOX Business. Before the coronavirus hit the U.S., 20-year-old Hlad worked at an Equinox Sports Club in Manhattan. However, to slow the spread of the coronavirus, Equinox -- and other gyms across the country -- announced March 16 that it would temporarily close all its locations, so Hlad relocated to southern New Jersey where she grew up.  After quarantining for two weeks in Manahawkin, she signed up to be a shopper at Instacart, the grocery delivery app.

Side Hustlers Income Reports

DoorDash – Get paid to pick up food orders from various restaurants that use the DoorDash service and deliver it to the people who ordered.

What you do is you go to the restaurant  after your phone alerts you to then you pick up the food then you drive to the customer's house then you're done easy

Grab this car organizer to help with your door dash car organization

once you have all your equipment and are approved to work it’s a really easy way to make some quick cash, especially on the weekends. you don’t get reimbursed for gas or anything but I've honestly made enough to cover gas and still make a profit and put some towards my debt.

You don’t have to take every order that pops up. Take the orders that are about $1.80 per mile (use gas wisely). Look at YouTube videos of Dashers. They give tips too.  Dash on your way back home from the other side of the city… Can be a good gig, if you do it smart.

How to get start selling clothing and make money online

Postmates Become a “Fleet delivery driver” for Postmates and get paid for deliveries of all kinds of items. You  will be take home 100 percent of what you earn and payments are made weekly or cash out when you want instantly.

Uber Eats Instead of traditional food delivery jobs where the hours aren’t flexible, try being your own boss with Uber Eats. Get paid to deliver on your schedule using the food delivery app most downloaded by customers.

Some feedback from our group  on grocery delivery

James shared

door dash is ok, just dont take offers less than $7, they hide tips above $7. They also will show at least $1 per mile if there is a tip to cover it. ie 8 miles and $8.25 could have tips, 8 miles and $7.99 wont have a hidden tip.

uber eats is also great, but in my area its pretty slow, I get maybe 4 offers a week. but it usually pays pretty well. they hide tips to but only if its more than $8. so the offer you see is usually pretty good on its own, hidden tips are just a nice surprise. I dont take an uber unless its over $10, most are $15 or more.

keep track of all your miles so you can write off most of your income. stride has tips on what you can do and it keeps track of each stop you make. I also keep track of miles each day on a spread sheet, starting and end odometer along with total miles.

Steph shared

I’m in a city located outside a metro area. We have EVERYTHING in my city (except a Target ). We even have a mall. The Instacart market here is soooo saturated the wait is ridiculous. I am a Shipt Shopper but like I said we are 30-55 minutes from the metros they service. I wanted to get on with Instacart to shop more close to home (5-10 minute drives as opposed to 30-55 minute drives).

Laura shared some info on getting insurance

Make sure you have commercial car insurance. Cause if you get in an accident while working you won't be covered just giving those a heads up that are reading this that state farm might be a good move.

we switched from progressive a couple of years ago, and they were ripping us off so badly. if only we shopped around years before. progressive  was slowly increasing our rates over a stupid dmv mistake that had nothing to do with driving.

state farm gave us rates lower than progressive  original pricing before the inflated rates, which is still comprehensive coverage.

most DD's don't do the insurance thing with the plan of omitting that they were delivering while they were driving. super risky though since the insurance can get records from DD/uber/etc and they love finding ways to not have to pay out.

Resume Tips for Online Work at Home Jobs

We want to  help you be successful in landing that job interview, and help with landing the job. Here are  some basic tips that can help you to be successful when looking for a job  from home.

USE KEYWORDS FROM THE JOB AD

Many online applications are not hand picking your resume because you have years of experience or qualifications. They are using a program to scan for key words. By using key words from the ad, this can increase your chances of your applications being pulled. If the ad says “seeking independent individuals that work with little or no supervision”, then you can put that you are able to work independently or that you require no supervision etc.

KEEP IT SIMPLE, WATCH FORMATTING, AND CHECK FOR SPELLING ERRORS

Make sure that your resume is not overloaded with unnecessary information. 1-2 pages is standard for most employers. Formatting your file as a word doc or PDF is usually best as most accept both forms. It is not needed to fill your resume with images or fancy fonts (due to most are not even looking at your resume, and auto scanners will reject most non formal fonts). Make sure you spell check everything to ensure correct spelling also.  Remember to keep your font size at 11 or more. Also keep several versions of your resume on hand geared towards the type of job you are applying for; management, customer service, etc.

USE STANDARD HEADERS

Use common headers, such as “Work Experience” since other phrasing LIKE “Job Experience” may not be recognized by an  Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)  scanning resumes.

Not customizing your resume for ATS software. You can’t create one resume and expect it to pass for every job you want to apply for. At a minimum, you should be tweaking keywords for every job you apply for.

Remember, your first priority needs to be getting past ATS software. If your resume is too lengthy, too fancy, or doesn’t have the proper keywords, you don’t stand a chance at your resume making its way to human eyes. ATS software will spend approximately SIX seconds scanning your resume, so make it count.

VOLUNTEER WORK

Volunteer work counts as experience as well so post that volunteering you do!!

OBJECTIVE STATEMENT

It is no longer necessary to have an objective statement unless you are planning to make a career move. If you feel compelled to have something like an introductory, you could always put a summary statement.

FINISHING TOUCHES

Ditch references, they are not needed and will be asked for if necessary. Refresh it as needed as you move along in your career path!

Make sure you have correct phone number and a good email address on it. You won’t get the interview if they can’t contact you. The email address should be an appropriate one and not hotmomma69@email.com .

Some common questions

I do not understand cover letters. What are key points to include in one without oversharing

A cover letter should essentially be an extension of your resume. Cover letters are great for explaining gaps in employment, desires to change careers/industries, etc. My favorite cover letter format also has a "highlights" section that highlights 4-6 of the client most valuable skills that relate to the position they're applying for.

I've been a stay at home mom for over 10 years - what is the best way to fill in those 10 years on a resume? I've volunteered at my sons elementary school routinely, but no other substantial work.

This is something that's really good to mention in a cover letter. But as far as closing the gap on resumes, a lot of times I like to do something like this:

Stay at Home Mom (Dates Here)

Skills Utilized: Conflict Resolution, Scheduling, Time-Management, etc

Show the company what you gained during that time, if that makes sense.

I would like to switch from customer service to administrative duties. How do I identify keywords in my resume to make my customer service experience more fit for an admin position?

Most of the time, customer service and administrative duties are very similar. For the majority of customer service positions, you're already doing some variation of administrative functions, too. For administrative positions, I like to focus on some of the following keywords: data-entry, time-management, organization, prioritization, scheduling, written/verbal communication, documentation, correspondence.

I'm looking to apply for some work at home claims positions. What  are some keywords on resume to use when applying for these types of jobs.

You will want to look at the job description in the employment  ad adjuster, liability, compliance, insurance, risk assessment, policy, negotiation, etc. This is more dependent upon the specific position, though. They are using a program to scan for key words. By using keywords from the ad, this can increase your chances of your applications being pulled.

When writing a resume should we only put the most recent jobs we've had? I often feel like I have to many jobs on my resume.

The very general rule of thumb is no more than 5 jobs, and no more than 10 years back. This varies greatly depending on the client, the job history, the level of employment, etc.

August 2020 Side Hustlers Income Reports

I love when side hustlers share their income especially when they are getting out of debt!  There is a way to make extra money each month when you are hustling!

Here are Dave Ramsey side hustlers that are working to get out of debt and work on financial peace!  They have shared their journeys in our facebook group!

Amanda T

here is the income I made from my side hustles in August. Some of these are local businesses, so won't be available for everyone (ASP = after school program).

Qkids is online teaching, and if you search the group you'll find the blog I wrote about it. R+F is Rodan + Fields. Marketforce is mystery shopping which has been REALLY slow since COVID. Amazon Mturk is something I usually make over $100 on but I had ZERO free time in August to work on it. Amazon seller is new for me but I've made much more this month already on that side hustle!

Donna

I'm going to copy/paste some of my advice from last month because I know that I myself keep needing to hear it.
As far as my extra income....
I started a new business that is really working for me. Yes. It is an MLM/ direct sales selling magnetic lashes, but right now for me there is no "ML". I don't have a team. I'm not a recruiter. I'm just selling the lashes. Major success there. I know many people have tried MLMs and found them not to work but I think party of the key is finding the RIGHT one for you. I ❤ makeup so this was a no brainer.

I think you start seeing some of the stuff in your house differently when you realize that:
1. Everything that's in there that you don't need, you still have to clean.
2. You could make money off it!!
I sell my stuff VERY cheap on Marketplace so I can get rid of it. I'm tired of all the STUFF. This month, I also gave away BAGS of clothes.

My travel business is new but I'm starting to book travel for the future so I won't be paid till trips are complete. I LOVE doing this business. My biggest love for it is the personal discounts on travel we have now started using.
Once again,  my big extra money came from extra shifts at my job. I love that extra money but it is time away from my kids which is why I have my direct sales businesses working for me.

Andrew and Tiffany  of Corl Reduction

Another month has come and gone. Our money went down last month. This was due to fewer Door Dash orders or smaller Door Dash orders throughout the month.

Tiffany also reported a not as many order on her shopping platforms as in prior months. But it is what it is, and we make the best of it. Hopefully with Covid-19 cases going down in many parts of the country and the schools back in session we are hoping that things will pick up in September both with Door Dash and with eBay.

Tabatha  Shared!

You guys. I picked up a gig/side hustle to start paying debt off, and I am blown away.

DoorDash is 10000% worth signing up!! I wish I had done it sooner. I average around $20 , the schedule is flexible (I work when and where I want), I  did 60 hours in August. I made $1100 and was able to put it towards my debt.

Get Paid to Design & Sell T-Shirts

How many t-shirts you have in your closet right now. Some of them fit just right, while others have an image or quote  that really shows off your personality. But you’re still looking for that perfect tee.

So why don’t you make it yourself? If there’s a shirt that you really want, there’s a good chance others will too.   Do you have a graphic design background and if not its okay.   Do you ever think of funny saying that maybe only your family has?

By syncing your site with a print on demand platform, you can sell your graphic tees from your online store. The service will then print the product and ship it directly to your customers. This method makes it easier to start your business and cuts down on your initial investments.

1. SpreadShop

SpreadShop makes it possible for you to open your very own T-shirt store. Plus there are no fees — the site is completely free for you to use.

There are two ways to earn here — by being a marketplace designer and setting your own prices based on what you think your designs are worth, or you can become a shop owner and earn an commission off each sale of your products.

2. Teespring

Teespring has an easy online designer to create T-shirts. Then, just set your price and a sales goal.

If you collect enough pre-orders, they will manufacture and ship the T-shirt to buyers. One of the best things about this site is that you keep ALL of the profit on T-shirt sale

3. SellMyTees

This is another website that will provide you with an online shop for selling your designs on T-shirts. Note that while they do have a free plan for sellers which lets you open up a small basic shop with 20 designs, they do offer paid (monthly) plans as well. SellMyTees pays monthly via Paypal or check, your choice.

4. Threadless

This is an online T-shirt shop featuring designs from many independent artists around the world. Threadless has an ongoing design challenge that you can submit your own designs to.

Members of the Threadless community are allowed to score the designs submitted, and if yours is one of the best of the best, it will be manufactured and sold. You'll get not only a cash prize for having your design selected, but you will also receive ongoing royalties from sales of your design.

In addition, you can set up your own artist shop on Threadless

5. Bonfire

This site offers a very easy way to design and sell your own premium, custom T-shirts. Bonfire caters not only to individuals, but also to organizations. It's free to get started here with very easy setup and fast payouts.

Payments are made via Paypal, and you get 100 percent of your profit. Bonfire even has a unique feature that enables you to accept tips.

6. TeePublic

Create your own design for a T-shirt, upload it, and it immediately will go up for sale. For 72 hours, the shirt you design will be priced at just $14 but will go up after that so they encourage promoting it heavily during the first three days.

7. Zazzle

You've probably heard of Zazzle — it's very well-known. You can put your artwork not only on T-shirts, but also on coffee mugs, calendars, posters, and more

Zazzle allows you to open your own online store and also set your own royalty rates for your creations.

8. CafePress

This is another site very similar to Zazzle and about as equally popular. With CafePress, you can create designs and put them on T-shirts, posters, coffee mugs, etc. and then sell them.

You can get your own online branded shop through CafePress. They will handle marketing for your shop and then you can earn royalties on all sales.

9. Redbubble

Redbubble prints your artwork onto the T-Shirt and ships it to the customer. Redbubble credits your account with a royalty (a percentage of the sale price) – and once a month Redbubble pays out your royalties to your Paypal or bank account  Redbubble often shows up in google shop searches.

10. Etsy

This is bit different because you are actually fullfilling orders. Print on Demand (Fulfilment) Companies (like Printful) act as a white-label ‘back-end’ to an online store, allowing artists to setup their own store on a custom domain, or to sell through a marketplace like Etsy.

Print on demand companies are not places that customers go to buy t-shirts – they are instead services that artists and sellers can use to fulfil orders to their customers.

Whereas Print on Demand Sites (like Teespring) are self-contained websites where customers will go to buy products. A Print on Demand Site is a much simpler and quicker way for artists to make money from their designs than a Print on Demand company.
